I'm from Cangas, a small seaside town in the heart of the Rías Baixas — steeped in salt air, rich in maritime spirit and tradition, and watched over by the incredible Cíes Islands. Hard not to feel proud of that.
As a kid, while others wanted to be astronauts or footballers, I was set on being an inventor. I never really grew out of it — I just found a more practical name for it.
That's what led me to engineering. Not quite the same thing, but close enough to keep building things that (hopefully) make people's lives a bit better.
Turns out, that's all I was really after.
And beyond the code, that same curiosity still shows up in different ways.
Scroll down — you'll see what I mean.
Not just to switch off — though that too. The real pull is seeing the world through someone else's eyes. Different cultures rewire something in you, if you let them.
I still love building with Lego. And deep down, the material doesn't really matter — bricks, timber or code: the pull to create something new never quite goes away.
Everything that flies fascinates me. I spend a lot of time trying to understand it — though in practice I just fly a small drone and try to keep it away from anything important.
From the outside it doesn't look like much fun. It would already be worth it just to be out on the water — but the real magic is the trust and complicity you build with a whole crew.
Sounds nerdy. It is. But once you start noticing the world around you at that level, you can't stop — it stops being a hobby and becomes a need.
The pepper of life. It fills the gaps between everything else — and it's even better if you play. Three guitar chords and a set of bagpipes is apparently enough.
Telecommunications engineer with over a decade across very different domains — IPTV and video streaming, digital signage, border security, big data and last-mile delivery. That variety has meant working with a wide mix of technologies, languages, frameworks, databases and infrastructure stacks.
The only constant is change. I've learned to enjoy that.
Over a decade designing and building software across very different sectors — from IPTV and broadcast, through maritime surveillance and e-health, to observability platforms processing hundreds of millions of events a day. That variety has two inevitable effects: a technology list that never stops growing, and an ever-sharper understanding of the real needs of each project and each client.
My journey covers the full cycle: requirements gathering, technology analysis, architecture design, data modelling, implementation, deployment and operations. With experience across frontend, backend and DevOps — but passionate about backend, large-scale data management and exploitation, and integration with external services to build ecosystems, not just products.
Beyond work, I am passionate about continuing to learn and giving something back. I have designed, built and run several personal projects in production — because the best way to learn something new is to build it for real.
I love a well-defined architecture and clean, maintainable, efficient code — without taking it to obsession. And fortunately, a great companion has arrived to help with that. AI.
Multimedia engineering is, without doubt, the most exciting part of my career. From acoustic design and venue sound, through audiovisual production and scenography, to low-level video transcoding.
My main experience has been designing innovative multimedia solutions for special spaces: interactive fashion retail stores, touch-sensitive floors in shopping centres, and VR and AR solutions for car dealerships worldwide.
Leading is not simply about showing the way. It is about walking alongside, inspiring, and creating the conditions for every person on the team to grow and give their best.
I have led multidisciplinary teams on high-complexity, high-performance projects, and worked as Team Lead of software development squads — always with the same focus: leaving the team better than I found it.
Teamwork is not an option. It is the option.
